Threads of Legacy Girhasta | Vijayawada, 2025

"Threads of Legacy: Girhasta in Vijayawada, April 2025"

On the 27th and 28th of April 2025, Girhasta brought its curated world of handcrafted heritage to the vibrant city of Vijayawada. The elegant halls of A N Convention Center transformed into a living tapestry of silk, story, and tradition—an immersive celebration of Banarasi legacy and conscious craftsmanship.

From the very first moment, the space felt different. There was a hush in the air—a reverence for the craft that hung delicately from each hanger. Our signature weaves—pure Banarasi Katan silks, whisper-soft Munga chiffons, delicately dyed tissues, and limited-edition Rangkat sarees—stood like poetry in motion, waiting to be discovered.

Each piece carried with it a whisper of its origin—woven in villages, dyed by hand, and brought to life on looms powered by memory and mastery. The drapes were not just fashion statements; they were living heirlooms—timeless in form and deeply rooted in meaning.

What made the Vijayawada exhibition especially memorable was the depth of connection. Patrons didn’t just browse—they paused, asked questions, listened. They wanted to know about the weavers behind the warp and weft, the motifs inspired by Mughal gardens or South Indian temple architecture, the hours that went into crafting a single sari.

The event welcomed a beautiful mix—brides-to-be curating their trousseau, mothers revisiting the elegance of handloom, and young women discovering the quiet power of wearing something made slowly, made soulfully.

The space was curated to encourage slow discovery. Mirrors were placed near soft lighting, allowing drapes to glow gently as they were tried on. Conversations flowed effortlessly—between client and craftsperson, between past and present, between the fabric and the woman draping it.

One of the most admired edits was our “Summer Soul” capsule—featuring fresh pastels, zari-laced detailing, and textiles designed for the southern warmth. These sarees, though delicate to the touch, carried great strength—much like the women who chose them.

We also introduced custom styling corners, where our team guided guests on pairings, draping techniques, and transforming traditional looks into modern expressions. Many were surprised by the sheer versatility of our drapes—worn not just for occasions, but styled effortlessly for everyday elegance.

Artisanal refreshments added to the sensorial experience—locally inspired drinks, delicate sweets, and traditional music playing softly in the background. It wasn’t just a showcase—it felt like a gathering of kindred spirits, united by a love for legacy and refinement.

Over the two days, we witnessed more than purchases—we witnessed bonds. Sarees were picked as gifts, tokens of love, memories in the making. Women told us stories of their grandmothers’ saris, of weddings from decades ago, and of their hope to pass these pieces to the next generation.

The people of Vijayawada welcomed Girhasta with incredible warmth and open hearts. Their appreciation for detail, depth, and Indian craftsmanship reaffirmed our belief that handloom is not just surviving—it is thriving, one heart at a time.

As we packed up at the end of the second day, we were filled with gratitude—not just for the success of the showcase, but for the meaningful connections forged in a city so deeply grounded in culture.

For those who couldn’t attend, a handpicked edit from the Vijayawada collection is now available by appointment at our studio and will soon be featured in our online store.

We leave Vijayawada with full hearts, woven memories, and a renewed purpose—to keep telling these stories, one thread at a time.

Because at Girhasta, we believe:
When a saree carries legacy, it carries life.
